The Best Online Payment Providers 2025 – Rankings, Reviews, Costs

2025-10-29 | Joanna Iwanków Maison

Choosing the right payment operator is crucial for the profitability of an online store, affecting both commission costs and sales conversion, and ultimately, customer trust and the growth of your online business. In Poland in 2025, the online payments market is undergoing a real revolution, with BLIK already handling over 60% of e-commerce transactions, and the number of mobile transactions rising by an average of 8 million daily. BLIK also achieved a record 1.4 billion transactions in the first half of the year (a 24% increase year-on-year), and its total value has exceeded 200 billion PLN.

I conducted a brief review of popular payment providers in Poland, along with helpful links.👇

Key payment operators in Poland – overview

Przelewy24 (+ Dotpay)

Advantages: Przelewy24 is the most popular payment gateway in Poland, supporting all key payment methods. The platform guarantees high reliability, fast fund withdrawals, a very broad selection of e-commerce plugins, and clear developer documentation. Particular strengths are low commissions and free registration for new clients.

Disadvantages: For lower sales volumes, commissions are only moderately competitive; the cheapest rates require negotiation. Functionality for international sales is somewhat limited compared to strictly global operators. There may be additional charges for fund withdrawals.

PayPal

Advantages: PayPal is a global payment system, highly trusted by buyers. The operator supports most world currencies, provides buyer protection, instant international settlements, and easy integration with e-commerce platforms. Documentation is extensive and up to date.

Disadvantages: The highest transaction commissions in the Polish market (up to 2.90% + fixed fees), high currency conversion costs, long waiting times for bank withdrawals, and frequent fund/account holds in the case of unusual activity or customer complaints.

PayU

Advantages: PayU is an international giant, offering cross-border payments, installment payments, and BNPL (Buy Now, Pay Later). The platform has an extensive infrastructure and is particularly effective for large online stores and companies planning international expansion. Attractive promotions for new customers and turnover-based discounts boost cost competitiveness.

Disadvantages: The standard commission after the promotional period is higher than for local competitors—starting from 2.3% for small shops. Implementation is more complex due to formal requirements and extensive features. For companies selling only in Poland, the fees may be less attractive than those from Paynow or Przelewy24.

Blue Media / Autopay

Advantages: Very large number of available payment methods (BLIK, transfers, cards, recurring and mobile payments), quick integration, and advanced documentation. Autopay supports not just online payments, but also bill payments, top-ups, and other mass services. Commissions are attractive for larger stores and subscription services.

Disadvantages: Standard rates are slightly higher than competitors, especially for small stores and card transactions. The system is less popular outside Poland, and some services require individual negotiation and technical deployment.

Tpay

Advantages: Tpay offers some of the lowest commissions on the market, a wide range of methods (BLIK, transfers, cards, BNPL), fast integration, and versatile technical support. The system is very flexible, has well-documented API, and numerous plugins for popular e-commerce platforms. The company has Polish capital and high security standards (KNF license).

Disadvantages: Tpay mainly handles local transactions—international service is limited. Not all integrations are immediately available for less popular platforms, and lower commissions require negotiation at higher turnover levels.

Paynow

Advantages: Paynow (mBank) stands out for its ease of implementation, instant fund availability, zero registration and activation fees, and a very attractive commission—just 0.95% per transaction. The system supports quick transfers, BLIK, and payment cards, with quick and intuitive integration for popular platforms. A very good choice for small and medium-sized online stores.

Disadvantages: Limited payment method selection compared to larger operators—no BNPL, installments, or global e-wallet integrations. Paynow operates only in the Polish market and does not support international sales.

International solutions

Stripe

Stripe is a global payment platform, especially popular among tech and SaaS companies. It offers an excellent API, multi-currency support, and advanced developer features. Commission is 2.9% + $0.30 per card transaction, making it less economical for stores operating exclusively in Poland.

Revolut Pay

Revolut Pay is a modern payment solution offering low commissions (~1% + £0.20 for EEA countries) and excellent multi-currency support. The system is especially suitable for international and digital sales but has less trust in Poland compared to local operators.

How to choose the right operator?

Choosing a payment gateway depends on several key factors:

Business Model
Stores operating only in Poland should consider Przelewy24, Tpay, or Paynow due to lower commissions and high brand recognition among Polish customers. Companies planning international expansion should look at PayU, Stripe, or Revolut Pay.

Sales Volume

For high monthly turnover, it is worth negotiating individual rates with operators. PayU and Tpay offer progressive commission reductions as transaction value increases.

  • Small stores (up to 1,000 transactions/month): Tpay for lowest commissions and free withdrawals.
  • Medium stores (1,000–10,000 transactions): Autopay or PayU, balancing costs and functionality.
  • Large stores (10,000+ transactions): Przelewy24 for maximum stability and support.

Payment Methods

BLIK is the absolute standard in Polish e-commerce, so every gateway must support it. For younger customers, digital wallets (Google Pay, Apple Pay) matter most, and for higher-value purchases, installment and BNPL options are essential.

Technical Integration

All major operators offer ready-made plugins for popular platforms (WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento, Shopify), greatly simplifying deployment. For custom solutions, the quality of API documentation is crucial.

Dominance of Mobile Payments
M-commerce is growing faster than traditional e-commerce. BLIK remains the most popular mobile payment method (preferred by 60% of Polish consumers). Contactless payments now constitute nearly half of BLIK operations at points of sale, and digital wallets are systematically gaining popularity.

Deferred Payments
Deferred payments (BNPL) are becoming standard, especially for higher-value purchases. Operators are increasingly offering advanced analytics tools and features to boost conversion, such as one-click payments or abandoned cart reminders.

Personalization of Checkout Experience
Online stores are increasingly implementing intelligent systems that recommend payment methods based on purchase history and customer preferences. Offering choice is critical – 53% of consumers cite access to different payment methods as a purchase motivator.

New Infrastructure – SORBNET3
On September 8, 2025, NBP launched SORBNET3 – Poland’s most advanced high-value payment system. The system uses MX messages in the ISO 20022 standard, offering greater flexibility and security for transactions over 1 million PLN.

Security and System Stability
Transaction security is a priority—all major operators deploy 3D Secure for card payments and comply with stringent PCI DSS standards. In Tpay’s case, premium CloudFlare-level protection and banking security standards are used. The industry is putting more emphasis on system redundancy and emergency protocols. Operators invest in AI systems for anomaly detection and predicting potential technical issues.

Practical recommendations for E-commerce stores

A modern online store should offer:

  • BLIK – mandatory (preferred by 60% of consumers)
  • Fast online transfers – crucial for conversion
  • Payment cards with 3D Secure 2.0
  • Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
  • Deferred payments for higher amounts
